Each Powerball draw picks 5 numbers out of 69. A bet may cover from 5 to 10 numbers, and the more numbers a bet covers, the more combinations it plays — and the more it costs.
The draw also picks 1 out of 26 for Powerball, which counts separately from the main numbers.
Odds of the top prize
Matching all 5 numbers with a minimum bet has odds of 1 : 11,238,513. Every combination is equally likely on every draw, so no set of numbers is ever "due".
